Hob skimmer overflow?
17g cube
2 ocellated clowns and some lps Barebottom 14lbs live rock Wavemaker I got a AQUAMAXX hob1 skimmer , 3rd day now didn't skim much but pushes some foam and some crud to the top of the plate, I ran it in vinegar and water to speed break in and never overflowed from what others are experiencing. The intake is halfway into the tank Im having OCD of it overflowing 1 day half the tank to the floor? Even though it has a drain on the cup I saw videos where the bubbles are rushing out the top pass the drain. I'm planning to do a 30g , same bioload. What can I do to prevent water onto the floor? Or should I just go skimmerless? What if I cut the intake pipe in half would it affect the skimmer? |

I have a 20 long at the moment with about 13g of water total. I keep my bio load low, run skimmer less/sumpless and do 3.5g WC once a week with chemi pure blue in a HOB fuge. My P04 has been dropping 30-50PPB every week since I put the chemi pure in.... in IMO HOB skimmers are scary as I read the same reviews. I had bought the RO HOB 100 and sold it to a buddy that need one. I jumped the gun on the purchase and wish i never got it in the first place though he paid me full retail so im not out any pennies. I will use a skimmer when I have a sump and can keep it inside.

You cut yours? It won't make a problem if the return and intake is next to each other?
