Aptaisia?
Waiting for it to open back up for a picture.. I found it free floating in the tank..
Has 8 or so tenticals... Bluish in color... And a clear tear drop base with some "stuff" inside.... Has no stalk like the other pictures of Aptaisia I have see.. And it retracts kind of slow.. Like it doesn't want to.. Into a lil ball... It usually comes right out.. But is not happy chilling in my net lol |

And yes... I've went through all 134 pages of the hitchhikers ID lol.. Some sort of similar.. But not really... And now it's pretty angry at me... And it's a lil white ball with just its tentical tips sticking out

I know... All I have is a crappie cell phone camera.. And it seems to focus on everything but what I want it too... Hopefully I can find the lil guy again since my lil trap failed overnight and he is either somewhere in my tank... Chopped up by a WaveMaker... Or in my filter..
I guess I will know in the coming weeks if it is or not if I find more popping up everywhere.. Tho I've never seen anything mentioned about Aptaisia free floating around |

Yes it will free float. it's an anemone, it has a foot and can walk and change location. Or it can let go and float away.

Oh OK.. I never knew that.. But I am pretty new at all of this.. What ever this thing is.. The first time I seen it.. It was in a hole in a rock. With just its tenticals sticking out.. I fed it a shrimp pellet.. And it's tenticals folded in.. Almost as if they stiffened up and criss crossed like fingers..
I really wish I had a good camera.. Because the base looked Differant than any pictures I've seen... Though I know there are 1000 Differant breeds of these guys.. I can't seem to find him any more in my tank.. But I'll keep an eye out.. And maybe get a peppermint shrimp as a precaution.. I like those lil fellas anyhow.. My tank is only 6 weeks old.. And I just added 100 lbs of rock Friday... 60 to 80 lbs last Friday.. So I'm sure I'm gonna have other surprises in store that are still in hiding.. I've got Prolly 8 or 10 bristle worms I've seen already.. BTW.. I love your screen name and quote I'm a big fan of Carl Sagan and Neil Degrasse Tyson Also I am an United States Marine... World renown for eating crayons hahaha |
