Powder Blue Tang

I got a REAL NICE 5" Powder Blue Tang Tuesday and hes been in the system for 24hrs now.... only eats a piece of food here and there... swims around but pretty much stays along the bottom.. stomach has sunk in a bit from 24hrs ago... is this normal..?? He seems fine.. nothing weird other than swimming and sometimes bumping into the glass.... when he swims down toward the sand... hits the bottom kinda hard... lol ... I have NOT had one this big or even had one for a few years.... any ideas from people that have had them for awhile and what it might take to get him to eat like a pig..??

I'm assuming your water parameters are good & Your tank is maybe 180.

Love powder blues. Tough fish. Taking it out of a home system is a plus. 150 a bit small. Good luck!

What are you feeding it? They are very active fish and proper nutrition is extremely important to their health as well as good water conditions and a proper size tank. Make sure to feed seaweed daily as well as add vitamins to its varried diet.

It might be a bit stressed & still trying to adapt to the new tank. I'd monitor day to day for now

I never worry until a fish has been with me for a week. Really a fish that should be quarantined, regardless of where you got it though. Ought to post this in the reef fishes forum.
