Calcium supplement?
Hey guys, I was wondering what everyone used to supplement for their calcium. I want to eventually get a reactor, but want to make my own supplements for now. I know that you use calcium chloride and water, but there seem to be so many different types of chloride that it is confusing. Thanks for the help!

I also use bulkreefsupply. I don't have to dose much at all because I use kalk & the kalk keeps me stable. If u don't have to dose much but u dose everyday then I would just get it from bulk reefsupply. If u are strictly dosing 2-part & go through a bunch of it then it may be worth using Randy's diy 2-part recipe to save some money.
If u dose very little it would be easiest to use something like seacham fusion 1 & 2. It comes in a liquid form ready for the tank. It would get rather expensive if u have to dose it every day though Last edited by Lsufan; 04/23/2017 at 11:54 AM. |

Search on Randy Holmes-Farley. That will get you what you need. He also has a great article on the purity of calcium chloride.

I do 2 part with Calcium and Alk using Reef Fusion right now, but am wanting to get off of that because of money. Dosing about 35ml a day and will be upping it soon as more corals go into the 300 gallon. Thanks for the info all! Checking out BRS now. If I buy Calcium Chloride at BRS, could I still use Baking Soda for my Alk? Thanks!

I use BRS bulk chemicals for CAL and MAG, and Randy's DIY for ALK(plain old Arm and Hammer baking soda).
