stocking 46gal
Hi everyone, I'm new to saltwater aquariums and was wondering if I could get some stocking advice. I have a 46 gallon bowfront, live sand, about 35lbs live rock, and a fluval 406 filter. It has been up and running for about 5 months. All water parameters are good, no issues.
I currently have the following in my tank: -2 ocellaris clownfish -1 sleeper banded goby -1 yellow tail blue damsel (who is behaving himself) -3 cleaner shrimp -bunch of snails and hermits I want to add the following: -1 royal gramma -1 coral beauty Will that be too much of a bioload for the tank? I know it is getting close so I thought I would see what other people thought. Or does anyone have any better stocking ideas to add? I don't want to hurt any fish by adding too many so thought I would ask for everyone's thoughts. Thank you so much! |

IMO, I would not add the Coral Beauty. You probably could take a look at the Pygmy Angel, stays relatively small (like 3 inches at max).

Royal gramma would be absolutely fine, Coral Beauty may be pushing it. Mainly for tank size.

Get a Pygmy Angelfish instead of the coral beauty. My Pygmy is a voracious eater and has a great personality

Any angel in a tank under 75 gallons is a ticking time bomb, sooner or later it is going to get very aggressive with its tank mates.

Thanks for the advice everyone, decided not to get an angel after everyone's advice. Really appreciate the advice!

The list looks fine to me. I have 2 dwarf angels in a 42 gallon for 2 years without any injuries or fatalities. The dominant one will chase the other one around from time to time, but it's more for show rather than wanting to hurt him. I think you need a good swimmer in your tank and an angel fits that role well.

If you are looking for an active swimmer, a small wrasse would fit that bill perfectly. Fairy or flasher, if you have a screen top. They jump, and egg crate may not stop them
