Time for Chemi-Clean?
Behold my cyano....
I've cut back feedings. I've knocked my light period down and reduced intensity. Phosphate and nitrate are low, barely detectable. Mag, alk, and calcium all solid. Corals thriving. I've moved powerheads all over. My skimmer is working great. Thinking it's time to try the old Chemi-clean. I had a bad cyano outbreak in my last tank. The CC worked and never came back. It doesn't look to bad IMO. I would just get into the habit of siphoning out the Cyanobacteria and then return the sand back to the tank. (after a good rinse) Hopefully in time things will sort themselves out.

I think I may siphon out what I can today, no lights over the weekend (I'm not at the office anyway) and see if that helps knock it back.

How much flow do you have in your tank? How often and how much do you change when you do a WC? Sorry basic questions but they help pinpoint what is up.
PS are you using RODI? Last edited by MTF7; 06/16/2017 at 12:00 PM. Reason: PS |

Siphon the top layer of sand off, soak it overnight in peroxide and then wash in tank water... hey Presto all cyano dead
Can do same with rocks as long as no corals attached, but you will kill off bacteria, so beware a mini cycle after. If it gets bad you can dose the whole tank with peroxide. Check out dosing amounts on google. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk |
