Collecting Equipment & Warranties
Am I the only one that buys equipment here and there during sales and spends months if not years assembling a new build? Because of this, some of my equipment warranties are gone before water hits the aquarium.

When I took down my 180 a few years back, I setup a little 40 gallon Fire Belly Toad tank. Made a cool vivariuim that looked like something from the Dagobah system... Fast forward to January when I set up my current SW tank (another 40g) I bought powerhedas, heaters, filters, rock, etc. I went out to my shop this past weekend to look for some tools, and found 6 heaters, nearly a dozen powerheads, 4 HOB filters, and hundreds of pounds of dry rock. I thought I got rid of it all, apparently I didn't.

I do this, but with high quality used stuff... stash it away for later. I have boxes of MH and Tunze pumps that people sold for pennies on the dollar when they thought that China had better things to offer, but the price is back up now and I slowed down. Of course, these are out of warranty before I get them, but they are high quality and last anyway.

I'm probably the result of a unique personality that always looks for the best price while at the same time insisting to do everything I can myself. This includes building a stand, searching out solutions to problems, and not rushing things to hopefully get a professional result. Maybe this hobby is finally wearing off on me and has instilled some patience.

But you have to at least check out the equipment because if it is broken you are done for. I had 6 out of 6 broken T-5 bulbs, I will never buy my bulbs in Nov or Dec due to shipping.
