Zero water changes or much maintenance SPS

I let go of my tank for a solid year more or less. My 2 inch frags of SPS grew nicely with zero water changes. My skimmer had no maintenance and got plugged up for a good 6 months was not skimming much. I only had 2 clowns and 1 goby and didn't feed to much. I did however throw in some coral frenzy every other day and top off water with rodi. Zero water changes and phosphates hit around 1ppm. I only recently started fighting the phosphate and gha and cleaning up my tank. Water was always 0 ppm ammonia nitrate and nitrite, not that I tested often but it always was when I did test. I have a 40 Breeder with hob refuge and hob aquaclear and hob skimmer. Not much maintenence was done on them for a good 8 months. The refugium had chaeto for most of that time growing like crazy and I would empty every like 2 months and leave a small amount to start over. Chaeto was literally packed full and I would just leave it for months. My green spongode or whatever you call it also got rather large in the same time frame from about 2 inch. All my sps grew nicely during this period of no care. I also added 5 ml of kent essential elements every month or so which is expired by years. I did get my mag up to 1500 right before I let the tank go and I'm sure that helped. When salinity would get low I would literally mix salt in the tank on a corner slowly in small handfulls until I got it back up. I did everything wrong and never once had a crash or sps die on me. They just kept growing. Sorry for the random rant just writing as I remember what I did. What that being said, I'm doing maintenance and changing things to see if I can increase growth and color of my sps. Will keep updating this thread with my ghetto methods. I will be adding photos etc when I get home. All sps are from 1 to 2 inch pieces.

My alk was at 6 when I tested, took it back up to 9 with b-ionic.
