Missing Fish
I have a 75 gallon reef tank with some new additions but have had some fish go missing shortly after. I had an Adult Bristletooth Tang, Diamond Goby, Ocellaris Clown, Royal Gramma and a Blue Damsel. I added a Copperband Butterfly fish about 6 weeks ago and a Green Bird Wrasse 2 weeks ago. I didn't notice any issues after adding the Copperband Butterfly. After adding the Green Bird Wrasse, he stole the Goby's burrow after 3 days and I haven't seen the Goby since. I haven't seen my Royal Gramma in 3 days and have been watching closely at feeding time.
Does seem to be a coincidence or is the Copperband Butterfly or the Green Bird Wrasse killing my fish? Again, no issues after the addition of the Copperband Butterfly. I have not even seen a carcass and I have not found any fish dead outside of the tank. Would a Green Bird perhaps eat those fish? Any thoughts? Thanks Matt |

The wrasse would certainly stress them out. I don't believe it's one of the friendliest of wrasses and your tank seems fully stocked with the wrasse, butterfly, and tang. It could've attacked them or at least bothered them to the point that they found a way out of the tank.
Look around again. I would consider removing the wrasse though.

Your green bird wrasse does come with a reputation for being aggressive and could be your problem. It also requires a larger aquarium than what it is presently in. Actually, given the ,volume of water, all your fish need more room. Your wrasse should be in something like 150 gallons, and up.

Please consider the health of your livestock more than "what you want" in your tank.
