Quarantine questions
Hi everyone.
I'll try to keep this simple. I have had a coral beauty in qt for approx 7 weeks. (Tomorrow is exactly 7 weeks) Started out coral beauty & royal damsel, but damsel perished after 14 days in qt. Coral beauty continued to eat well, swim well, have good color so on.... approx 5 weeks into qt coral beauty is on its side, color is gone, not eating at all, can barely swim. My immediate response was to do a water change, as I wasn't wasting time testing first. I figured small qt, something must have happened with the water conditions. (So much for keeping this simple) Next day same situation, test water & numbers are perfect. With the fish still looking pretty bad, if not worse I decided to dose the qt with prazi-pro. Within a couple days fish looked much better & started to eat again. Not much, but eating. That week water change as usual & I decided to not dose again because fish was looking much better. It's been about a week & 1/2, now the fish isn't swimming as much, color looks ok, & is eating. Am I being crazy, thinking something is wrong? That brings me to my questions! Should I dose the tank again, since it's in qt & why not? Also where do I stand with my normal 8 week quarantine? Do I start over? I only use 8 weeks to make sure ick doesn't slip through. Believe it or not I usually do 10 weeks in qt. If anyone actually made it this far through the post, I would appreciate some feed back. Thanks, Frankie Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Not that I'm supper experienced but I would dos again if nothing else for your peace of mind. It won't hurt and it will make you feel better.

And I wouldn't fully extend the qt time but you could add an extra week or so just to see how everything is going.

I would dose again and then a third time in 5-7 days. If it has parasites you need to treat twice 5-7 days apart. Too much time since the first dose which may or may not have completely cleared the infection.

Good point. I would def feel better dosing again, keeping the fish in qt longer will be ok, I just feel like it's boring for the fish. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I used prazi pro years ago to fight flukes, I remember dosing around 3 times. (Lost that battle) Your prob right about starting from scratch, it's been too long between doses, anyway can't hurt right? I'll do a water change tonight & add a dose. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
