Xenia always dies...

I have a few corals on my tank, zoa's, mushrooms, and some bubble looking corals and Kenya tree however, the Xenia I purchased is dying. This happen every time I have purchased it... I can't for the life of me figure why.. the LFS mentioned it needs nitrate/nitrite can't remember which but I measure 0 in my tank... If this is so, what's the best way to increase them? Thanks.

They take in nitrate and other organics as do most softies. How are you maintaining 0 nitrate, are you carbon dosing? If so just cut back on the dose slightly

I wish my Xenia would always die!

I have had my nutrients so stripped that my other corals died but Xenia still went on strong. I know hydrogen peroxide kills them, could a chemical be leaking into your tank by chance?

You are lucky they are dying. If they were to live they would take over your tank and in a couple year you would be wishing they were dead.

All newbies get Xenias. I did too. They sway and look cool. Eventually you will have an SPS tank.

Don't get Blue Mushrooms either.

From what this newb has researched, it's pretty easy to keep it at bay if you create its own little island. Is that correct?

It has a habit of floating off and recolonising other areas of the tank. My reefs only a year old so I'm still a big fan of xenia but I already have 4 colonies that stemmed from a tiny frag the LFS gave me for free a year ago! Also the island approach falls down if you have urchins, my tuxedos have happily spread clove polyps all over my tank too.
