Smile Ordering from Saltwaterfish.com

Hi guys, my tank has almost finished cycling (nitrates just spiked) and was going to order my cleanup crew from Saltwaterfish.com. I have been working with cichlids for about 6 years now, but this is my first saltwater tank. Has anybody ordered from these guys? Positive or Negative thoughts?

Order a snail only quick crew 1/2 the size of your tank..
So if you have a 50g get a 25g quick crew..

That price includes shipping BTW

I'm curious, why no hermits? not to hijack the thread but I'm honestly asking for myself as I'm in the market for a clean up crew as well.

I personally find that hermits can/will just decimate your snail population if there isn't sufficient food in a tank and even if there is just for the shells..

I just recommend starting out with a snail only crew and if you really want hermits first avoid the blue legged ones and second only get a very..very small number of them..
I will only allow 2 hermits in my 80G and they are still going after other critters on occasion.. annoying bullies IMO...

gotcha good to know. I always thought that hermits were a good addition to a tank for cleaning up rocks and any left over food. But when you put it in the sense that they will kill snails just for the shells makes an excellent point.

Think I'll do the same and just start with snails, thanks!

IMO, they can be hit or miss. I don't really mess with them no more. I do most of my online purchasing with Vividaquariums, liveaquaria, and amongthereef.

i have had ordered from them. With fish its very shaky and most never make it. With CORAL Frags its often OK..But my opinion is your better off getting them from Live aquaria or a few of the others mentioned above you will Pay more but get larger healthier stuff

I ordered from them about 10 years ago and was trapped in a cycle of dead fish credits and feeling like I had to do another order for the dead fish credits. Did this 3 times, seems like you get about 30% of the fish to live a week. Ordered a couple ORA frags that also came in DOA. Turned me off from online ordering fish. I prefer to see the fish and watch it eat at the LFS, even if it is double the price. I have ordered snails and hermit crabs from eBay with no problems. I personally love my hermit crabs, even if they do kill a few snails

What the others have already said. The only hermits in my systems are the tiny scarlet reef hermits.

Im surprised at these responses. I do all my aquarium buying online [my LFS literally wants something like $13 for a peppermint shrimp ] In my experience, SaltWaterFish.com is in the upper tier of online fish stores, right up there with Live Aquaria and Blue Zoo Aquatics. I cant think of a single problem experience with them on any order.

I've used them a few times. Multuple DOA's, given credit versus refunds. I've had credit for almost 8yrs and don't intend on using it. It traps you to reorder from them spending more money. I chalked it up as a loss and won't order again.

Cant say enough good about liveaquaria (Divers Den). I bought a pair of expensive bonded designer clowns that died after 3 weeks. To this day have no clue why, but I gave them a call and was still given credit for the fish with no questions asked.
