Black spots on clown goby!

My clown goby has to black spots on either side of his head, and I can't figure out if they were always there or recent! Here are some pictures tell me what you guys think, again they are on the same exact spot on both sides of his head. So to me seems like it's part of his colors.

Citron clown gobies have a spot like that on each side.
