issue with aquamaxx hob 1

when i first got this skimmer it worked great. however now my skimmer isn't producing as much foam and atleast once a week i have to prime the skimmer again to get it working. also i have to leave the air hose off the silencer or it almost immediately loses its ability to foam.

so far i tried pouring hot water down the air intake and it seems to help a little

The venturi is clogged with salt creep. Straighten out a paper clip and chip away at the salt creep build up in the volute (where the airline attaches to the pump). Notice how when you do the hot water in the airline it helps? Well you’re partially clearing the salt creep... just not enough. I used to own an HOB-1.

Exactly what LQT said. I would make sure to take the pump out every 6 months and vinegar bath it and ensure that the venturi was totally cleaned. It is common issue with em...

You can also use a drill bit to clean the venturi. Just get the right size & turn it by hand.
