It will overheat the light itself, raise it off.

Almost all the heat is radiated out the back (top)...and sides.
LEd's produce little "infrared" in the photon stream soo doubt it will be a problem.. though Not recommended for a number of reasons including a "maybe" w/ cooling.. That said I'd recommend an air gap for ANY light..just because.. turn it on and feel the front............. |

I see no reason for it to be a problem. Light cools through slots on the side, so no overheating issue there. Glass will get hot, though no more so than with a MH hung over it.

I've got a pair of 160s sitting directly on 1/4" plate glass. No observable difference versus the ones that aren't. LED don't radiate heat like other light sources (infrared mostly). Is it better to hang them clear .... Probably. But I see no major issues putting them directly on glass frankly. I guess time will tell. Maybe ask Kessil.

I don’t know how hot the glass of the a360s get, but I know the AP700s get hot enough to smolder and burn through towels and jeans such that the glass over the LEDs can get coated in brown soot from the inside!

I have four marsaqua boxes on my glass lid. No problem at all. I don't know how weights compare. I don't know how heat output varies though.

still considering the lensing/design ect why one wants it right on the glass is questionable.. anyways for fun: https://www.hawkridgesys.com/gallery...low-simulation |
