New set up Red Sea Max E260 skimmer question

Hi

I've set the tank up according to instructions received. Can anyone tell me why the water flowing back through the skimmer combs into the tank makes such a noise? I have added more water to increase depth in sump section (it states there should be 8" max though), I have added some floss to the section to try and dampen the noise... The skimmer also appears to be doing nothing - but I suppose it will take a few days to settle in? I have man made live rock and live sand so maybe not much to skim ATM? Am I supposed to amend airflow settings?

Any thoughts welcome

I just setup an e260 a week ago and had a similar problem. Water coming from the tank through the overflow into the skimmer section made a lot of noise if the water level was at what Red Sea recommended. I just run the system with a little more water in it to the point it's silent and just tune the skimmer at that level.

That’s great Splix - thanks for the reply. Did you have to alter the air valve or just the skim adjuster? My skimmer doesn’t appear to be doing anything...

Did you get the skimmer dialed in? I just set mine up yesterday and the water coming out the flow adjuster is full of bubbles and loud with a "fizzing" or "bubbling" sound. Is that what you had as well and were you able to solve it? Thanks.
