Foam?
Setup my tank to start cycling and have it going into a filter sock. Noticed that I have foam overflowing my filter sock. Why is it doing this I don't have a skimmer running till my cycle is done. Any idea

Do the overflow pipes go into the water or above the surface?

Pretty normal.. turbulence can create some bubbles/foam.. and combine that with a new filter sock and voila..
Don't worry about it.. And FYI.. you can certainly run your skimmer now.. Nothing wrong in doing that..

Yea I would definitely want my drain to end underwater. I like that I can hear some water running through my tank, would hate to hear the splashing of it all draining.
