I have the MBR157

I like the unit. My first few clean outs where not great, not as much growth as I hoped. The last cleanout was very good. It was completely filled with chaeto. Not sure what changed other than I had a little more cheato to start with.

Good :
mechanically its fine, some people claim the o-rings are a pain. They could be better, but are not that bad.
It has a small footprint and sits in sump. So no worries on leaks etc.
not bad to remove -- you unplug, loosed the lid to let in air, and lift out.
window on top helps to see inside.
not too expensive

Bad:
the pump is a little loud.
I wish there was a screen just below the water output tube. the top chamber can spit out the starter chaeto if its small.
the pump slides through the bottom plate barely only a few threads hold it.
If you put in a lot of cheato to start, you must leave a hole in center to get light tube through -- tricky.

I clean mine out every 5 weeks or so. I take it completely apart clean everything and reassemble. Not sure thats needed, but it only takes a little longer to clean / disassemble everything. I remove the cheato all the way and keep / rinse it in old saltwater. Last cleanout I removed / tossed a lot as it was very full.
