Filter media
Hi
I'm running a fluval evo 12 and I've order a media basket for chamber one and chamber two. They both have three compartments for media. What would your choice be for each compartment? |

I would put some ROX 0.8 carbon, maybe some purigen or chemipure, filter floss, and some pond matrix from red sea. Nothing else is needed, heck for that matter none of it is needed. Just some quality live rock, and flow is all you need for proper filtration in a reef tank.

I use filter floss, chemipure blue, and seachem matrix plus a chaeto reactor (which is overlooked as a great mechanical filter as well).

I would probably keep the compartments empty and only run chemical filtration such as GAC or GFO if need be. When you really stir things up during a water change though maybe add some filter floss or sponge for a few hours to polish the water for you. Once the water is clear go ahead and remove the media until the next time.
