T5 help

Looking to use t5 in my new build, question is do i need to use fixtures made for reef keeping or can i use fixtures for household use?

Most household fixtures are not HO so they will not properly drive an aquarium bulb. With that said as long as it is T-5HO ballast preferably with program start, and the fixture can stand up to a humid/salty environment you will be fine. You will not likely get the same efficiency as a good aquarium fixture if it does not have individual reflectors and active cooling.
