Need some help please.
75 Gallon Reef Tank With Fish. 75# LR and new HOB filter 1 week old. 1 Anemone, Corals, fish and inverts. All parameters with in range.
The issue is my tank turned cloudy yesterday. I pulled a glass of water in a clear glass and let it sit no Calcium or sand deposit. So recent changes are new sand sifter star and removed the canister filter and replaced it with a HOB. Any ideas on why it may be cloudy, I was thinking the filter change? Thank you in advance!! I forgot to mention. The set up is several years old. I did move it from a 55 to 75 tank about 7 weeks ago using same LR and water.

Sounds like a bacterial bloom
Does it look like a faint milky white, like a haze in the water? Mine went through that when i had a 45gal cleared up on its own. Did couple of water changes once a week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

For what it’s worth, saying “all parameters are within range” really isn’t helpful. What some people consider to be within a good range might be excessive to others. Additionally it doesn’t tell us what parameters you are testing for.
If you list the tests you have done with the results that would be much more useful. If you list the test kit brands that can be helpful as well as some have better reputations than others. |

Alkalinity is definitely on the high side. If your magnesium is low there could be some precipitation going on. It might be worth getting a magnesium test kit to see where that is. Do you dose two part or anything? Did the cloudiness happen after you dosed? |

I have used B Ionic 2 part for years with no issue I dose daily in the AM. Some for ALK I have kept between 10 and 10.5. If that was a change I would agree that could be it. I will check Magnesium tomorrow. Thank you.

10-10.5 is definitely acceptable for alk, but it is higher than many people keep it and the higher you go the more likely you are to see precipitation. Magnesium can keep that in check, so if it is low you might want to bump it up a bit as well. |
