Diamond Watchman Goby

I have had him 2 days he was busy building he area the first day. And re did it today. Will it ever get to a point where my tank is clear again? I assume when he is just sifting the sand it less messy than when he is hauling it to make his home? The substrate is so clean but the water so cloudy. Just wondering what I have to look forward to?

Regards,
Shelley

It will settle down!! I redid my AquaScape and I messed up the gobys home. So it went bonkers and dug a bunch of holes till it was Satisfied. In 2-3 days it should settle down

What is really funny about this is we purchased a Lyretail Anthias at the same time (tank mates at the LFS) tonight it went in the Goby's den and they are in there together, they are sealed in together tonight.

I got a diamond goby not too long ago and had the same thing happen, huge sandstorm right away. Only lasted a couple days and now he only stirs up a little silt when "working"

Sidenote: I added a leopard wrasse today and he went ahead and dug through the sand right away and was MUCH more thorough than the goby. Tank was a mess.

Just let it go for a few days. Think about adding a filter sock if you aren't ready using one

These are by far one of my favorite fish. They have so much personality and are so cool to watch

Agreed ^^^. I know for my next build I will put the goby in first before my coral. OMG, I had to blow sand off the coral 3-4 times a day with him in there until he found a satisfying spot.

Also a well known jumper when startled or bullied. Hopefully you have something in place that prevents him from jumping either to the overflow (if you have one) or death courtesy of the floor below. Other than that, those guys make me laugh when you see them scoop up a load of sand which bloats their mouths and then spit it out at a designated spot.
