Considering radion over sunpower
I currently have a 24x24 frag tank that I'm going to break down and transition to a 32 gallon mr aqua (24x17x17). I keep mostly acros and have been a fan of t5 over leds for their plug and play capabilty plus great results. However, with this new tank I want to simplify things a bit and don't want a massive light fixure dangling over my dt. I'm looking at the radion g4 plus xr30 to replace my ati. I have noticed that some people are getting great results with the ab+ program. I would also most likely use the diffuser lense to get more t5-like results. Does one xr30 have enough spread for a 24x17 tank. I'm aware that I'm probably sacrificing some coral growth /color for the aesthetic appeal of the tank. Cost is also an issue. If i need more than 1 radion i will keep my t5. I also have not had success with leds alone so it'd be great to hear from some led user that keep acros. Any thoughts or suggestions?

99% sps here,I have 4 x xr30's over a 64x22 mounted front to back so you'd probably be ok mounted the other way with 1 for your 24x17. I took a 8x80w sunpower off & wouldn't be going back,I'm on rms rail mount system so not flying high.
With the G4 i really don't know if the diffusers are necessary. Growth/colour - if you put a free Sunpower & a free G4 in front of me & told me to choose which to take,i'd take the G4. Recoloured up an aussie spath with the G4 pro's so i guess that speaks volumes by itself. Growth example 21 November 17 12 Feb 18 14 April 18 Last edited by 2una; 04/16/2018 at 06:30 PM. |

Thanks for your input. I really need advice from those that have used both. That was great.
