Please help me determine if this silicone seam is safe
Hi, I've been trying to finish this custom tank build for far too long with so many setbacks I've lost count. Right now I'm at the final stages of my 33 gallon peninsula tank/stand. This is the 2nd tank I've had built because the first one had the 2 smaller side panels cut 3mm too short at the base, I refused that one. I had it remade. Everything looks perfect now, all the silicone seems are approx. 1-2mm except for the long bottom seam between side and base panel. It measures 5mm and I noticed some artifacts in it too, air? I rubbed my finger nail with moderate force on the tank bottom and it looks like it separated pretty easily which I was surprised about, you can see the white area in the photo.
I leak tested it outside for a day and the tank has been inside for 3 days with no leaks either. The glass is 9mm thick and I don't know what type of silicon was used to construct the tank. Is this tank fine with that wide of a seam or am i overthinking? I'm coming from a 10 gallon nano and now I have this tank plus sump so I'm ultra concerned about any hazards. |
