Welcome to the hobby and welcome to the forum.
With this hobby, nothing good comes quickly. That means taking it REALLY slow before adding much if any livestock. The other thing is reading and lots of it. This is not a hobby that you just jump into without doing your research. At least not if you want to minimize losses and casualties while also being more successful early on. There is a new to the hobby section on the forum which is a great place to start. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=104 The search feature is your best friend. I suggest using it and searching for topics or terms. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/search.php That said, since you didn’t even ask a question in your thread, I will just direct you to a very pertinent thread for a new hobbyist. There is plenty of great info in there that will answer many questions and give you some much needed guidance. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=1031074

They are typically composed of multiple categories for organization... For example.. "New to the hobby", Reef Chemistry" ,etc... You posted this in the "Lighting,Filtration & Other Equipment" category.. The "new to the hobby" is probably suitable for your questions.. Once you have clicked on the link to get you into that sub forum then you simply press the "New Thread" button in the top left area a little bit under the big image of the "Reef Central image" with the fish.. Then give that post a title and fill in your message.. Then hit submit reply.. Thats how you start your own thread (which you seemed to have figured out already)... Its quite simple.. Most online forums function the same.. Now.. After you post people will typically start replying.. If you want to continue providing information about that specific topic then you hit the reply button and write more and submit again..

You can click on your user name (upper right) to see your profile, Under the Statistics tab is a link to all posts/threads you've made, among other things. Also your User CP (Control Panel) is helpful with lots of settings for Notifications among other things also.

Christine,
Are you on a computer or phone? I use the Tapatalk app on my phone, and it is confusing because you can't always tell which forum you are working in. If that is the case for you, try using your computer a couple times and it will be more clear. -Jim Sent from my XT1710-02 using Tapatalk |
