Aquascape - Too tall?

Attached are what I've come up with... I wanted a lot of surface area for coral, but I have a lot of nooks and caves in between the rocks for fish to hide.

I've only kept LPS in the past, and in this tank I'm thinking of giving SPS a try.

Have I built too tall to put any SPS corals on the top of the structure?

No worries... Sps corals are actually very easy to prune as long as they have a secure base.

Actually mine maybe slightly taller. My top rock point is maybe 6-8” from top of overflow. We have very similar tanks. (50 SCA with center overflow). Careful height choices base on each frags needs. I have not messed up yet.

Possible for a straight on front shot?
All the pics are shot at an angle, so with that perspective it's hard to determine
the height with relation to the water level.

Maybe use a plastic scale and measure from the water line to the top of the rock.

You won't get much flow inside of the rock structure. Maybe that would be good for pods to multiply

The flow is another concern of mine, while it might be good for pods to survive in that structure, detritus could also be an issue.

This is my first cube tank.. I can’t really think of a good design honestly.

Maybe stack the rocks more loosely

One design I like in a cube is low to high in a U shape. Your front two sides will start from bottom all the way to a peak at center in the back.

No caves, crevs, or holes for hiding, sleeping and your going to have big flow dead spots.

Open her up!
