calcium reactor too big?

I have a geo 818 reactor that I purchased at macna this year for a future build. Im currently running a 150 gallon frag tank and sump that will be plumbed all together with the 450 gallon tank in the near future. Is it too early to plumb the reactor into the set up now? I guess Im asking is it possible to scale back a reactor like this for 150 gallon frag tank so I wont need to dose? Thanks

A calcium reactor can't really be too large for a system. If you just put in less media it will act exactly like a smaller reactor, or you can fill it with media and run it at a higher pH and the media will dissolve more slowly.

For example on my new-ish ~400 gallon system that is full of mostly frags, I run my Geo 624 calcium reactor at a pH of 6.98 and that keeps all my parameters rock steady. As demand increases I'll increase the co2 rate and thus lower the pH, but for now a low pH is not required.

Yeah CaRX can’t be too big or too small like a skimmer. It will just need to be refilled more or less cuz the chamber will hold less/more. That is all.

I will be running a GEO 624 with a separate 4x24 chamber all pulled with a masterflex on my 1200g system. This would typically be “too small” but it’ll mean I’ll just have to refill it more often. Which allows me to just clean it more often as well

You can certainly have a setup that can overwhelm a tank that doesn't have any demand but if there is demand you're good.

Question, so a reactor cant be too small for a system? you just need to fill the medias more often

Correct, to a point. A large heavily stocked tank with rapid growing SPS can require a lot of media. A small reactor may really struggle to keep up but usually can unless in grossly wrong size reactor situations.
