will ich or velvet live on rock uf i take it out to dry

I have no qt right now and no money for one either.. So i was thinking of taking my corals out put em ina bucket or something and taking all my live rock out and possibly ny sand too and just letting it dry out on the deck. And then dosing copper i need to get rid of this ich or velvet.. Im tired of dealing with this. And frsnkly i dont care if my Bacteria dies off..

Ill just buy a 1 gaklon 29$ bottle of fritszyme ive used it before and that much BB would instantly cycle my tank again. Im on day 4 with malachite green and bo lights and the ich and velvet dont seem to really be improving.. Although malachite only kills free floating parasites and im still in the 3-7 day window of them falling off.

So yea.. If i dont see any improvment by day 8 or so 9 using malachite green... Ill try copper..

I just wanted to avoid tearing ny entire tank apart...

Will ich still be alive in my rock and sand if it dries out for a few weeks ? I know some diseases are resistant to drying out for certain amounts of time.

I just dunno if ich or velvet is

You will need to make SURE the rock and sand is dried completely while also cleaning the tank itself with a bleach solution to kill the cyst part of the disease cycle. Ich fallow period is 76 days while velvet is 6 weeks but any low to no O2 spots in the tank IE deep in rocks or in a deep sand bed will allow the tomont to remain dormant until O2 is introduced again hence why fallow periods fail sometimes

Drop by Petco as they are currently doing the $1 per gallon sale. Pick yourself up a nice QT tank and house what you can there. As for the Main DT, Let it sit without tearing the tank down for 3-4 months (no Live stocks) keep water movement and forget about it. Lights are not needed as there won't be anything in there. Heater will need to stay to keep the temp regulated. This has worked out great for me and helps prevent any pest from coming back.

if you dry out the rocks and its still wet in the middle you can possibly reintroduce the pest back into the tank anyways. Plus, once the rocks dry, you will still need to let it sit for a while to help with the curing process.
