Older style trigger sump
I have a custom trigger sump that was made for 9 1/2 inches of water in the skimmer section. My skimmer is a reef octopus 200 elite int. It’s made for a max of 9 inches. I was thinking if I use a dremel and cut the overflow down to 8 1/2 inches. Good or bad idea. I could also just have a stand made.

I like both ideas. I did hear that the blocks tend to deteriorate.

Find anything plastic about an 1-1.5" tall and just use that as a stand..
Even 4 pieces of PVC pipe cut that long for the skimmer to sit on is fine..

i made a box to go under my skimmer with egg crate. the plastic diffuser for flourescent lights. it comes in 2'x4' sheets at home depot for about 15 bucks. i cut it on a tablesaw then zip tied the pieces together. mine is 4" high and works great
