Can a canopy sit on top of a rimless tank?
Sorry if this is a dumb question...
I've had a 48"x30"x19" rimless Leemar tank for the last several years with lights hanging from the ceiling. I'm sick of the blue light flooding the living room so I'd like to get a canopy. Can I just have one made and then simply rest it on top of the rimless tank or can it not take that weight? I honestly don't really know how canopies sit so I'm not sure if I need a whole new tank or not. I was going to have a floating canopy made but my wife doesn't think that'll block out enough of the light. Suggestions appreciated. |

Yes a rimless tank can certainly take a typical canopy on it without issue.

Okay thanks, I'm about to commission a canopy for my tank and I was worried about it.

Build the canopy wider and longer than the tank and then put a rim on the inside of the canopy so the canopy sits over the tank and drops down about an inch over the tank. If you can make it modular because it will get heavy trying to take it off.
