Well, The Tank Is Finally Coming Down Today
Yep, after some 22 years of continuous operation, today's the day one of my LFS is coming by to help begin the task of moving livestock, draining, and teardown of my 500g. The livestock shouldn't be too much of a problem. It's only a handful of fish since a copper infusion awhile ago nuked all of my SPS. Then my beloved Mulleri Copperband died, resulting in a huge, uncontrollable Aiptasia outbreak. So,naturally, I'll be tossing out all my LR. All in all, it doesn't appear that I'll be keeping much. Everything is pretty antiquated; the closest thing I've got to a controller is a SpectaPure lll on my autofill system. But as I'm turning the corner to the future, I'm looking forward to having more of a dialog with you all concerning my next (and most certainly my last) build. But that's another thread. Just wanted to let you all know what's happening. No questions this time.
See ya.

How long did your Muelleri Copperband live?

Wishing you good luck with the next build. I've even sworn off the hobby twice in major relocations...and it never lasts. A tank or two always finds its way in. Congratulations on just biting the bullet and setting right up againl

I've had a few. The last one lived about five years.

Maybe it was an old fish already. Was it at or near full size when you got it? 5 years seems awfully short for a fish of that size. Edit: Just looked it up, the Muelleri Copperband gets to 7-8” and I would expect a fish of that size to have a lifespan approaching or exceeding 20 years. Sorry for your loss regardless. My one suggestion is to get as much depth (front to back) as possible...my 500g reef is 6'x5' and that depth makes sooo much difference! I wish you the best! Alfie/albano

Take your time Michael. I put two years of thought into my last/present tank Also my last one. The planning can be a really fun time.

I am taking advantage of the current virus situation to plan my first ever tank! It will be 6 foot custom 183 gallons.
It’s interesting but also tedious! Lots of stuff to cover! |

Lots of people at home being distracted by hobbies I guess.
