Do a search for his stuff and you'll find a lot of people think its a waste of money. Can't say I've ever used his stuff myself.

Waste of $$$. Spend it on DT's or cyclopeeze instead.

Johnstepj,
I am curious why you say use cyclopeeze and DT's instead of Combo vital? I use all three at different times and usually only use CV about 2-3 times a month. I have seen similar results between Cyclopeeze and coral vital ( corals perking, etc) so this is why i continue to use them. Why do you say not to use CV, other than most say it is snake oil, I dont know why they say that.......

His Coral Vital is basically apple juice. Piece of advise......never put anything in your tank that doesn;t list the contents.

I am by no means an expert at all, but I saw noticeable swelling in EVERY SOFTY in my display when using coral vital in my tank. However, since the product doesn't list its contents and says it will throw several of your water tests out of whack while using, I have to pass on using it all the time Sad, really - as the best LFS I've ever set foot into suggested its periodic use - and I saw great results.
JENnKerry - you're like the 5th person(s) to post the apple juice comment - care to elaborate? The stuff looked like dirty water with backwash in it to me.

I will admit that we were sucked in to using it when we set up our tank earlier this year. We got one bottle. Used it and it didn't do anything. To me it looked and smelled like apple juice.
Why use something that doesn't list it's contents and that is not that reputable, when all you need to put in your tank is calcium, alkalinity buffer and maybe magnesium? That along with water changes should be it.

maybe we are talking about two different products jen, mine is in a powder form and looks like fine dirt. I understand that all are calling it snake oil, but why? If it seems to give the same results as cyclopeeze then it cant harm to use it 2-3 times a month. Just my opinion til someone backs up the other side.........

I must be the exception...
I used coral vital....till the purple coralaline got to the sise of 1/2 dollars and quarters.....then dicontinued. all seems well and the purple stuff exploded all over my tank. start with it then slack off or quit. LFS gave me this advice and it seemed to pan out. Now I use apple juice......for you JeNnKerry who by the way need a monkey avatar

Oh, nooo, even the "Kool-Aid" brand grape is good. Kind of shows my age, but I picture my fish busting thru some live rock yelling "Koool-Aid".........but I usually mix the packets OUTSIDE the tank cause those sugar crystals burrrrn

just buy some, buy a piece of rock and put it in a bucket with a heater and flow, see what happens... I am going to experiment more with Combo Vital in my quarantine tank. I put it in my main tank and it took a couple of days to clear the water, but the peanut worms came out, algae bloomed, and the colors popped within 24 hours of putting the stuff in. It's candy...
