Defective Clown Fish

I bought a non raised Clown (True Perc) and the stupid thing has made its home in the corner of the tank...it has a perfect rose bubble to go to but the stupid thing likes how the slicone feels on its rear end.

It seems common for clowns to live/sleep in tank corners, especially under overflows.

True Percula Clown, Amphiprion percula, coexists with Heteractis magnifica, Stichodactyla mertensii, or S. gigantea. Mutualistic with Stoichactis and Radianthus anemones. Rose Bubble Anemone, Entacmae, great with a Tomato or a Maroon Clown.

We have 2 Anemones. It takes time.

My female went in right away, well within a week. My male on the other hand, just went into the RBTA last night, it was a 6 week wait.

This hobby requires "loads" of patience.

Good luck!

BTW... it's NOT defective!

i read somewhere that one of the mods said to put a picture of a clownfish in an anemone on the fish tank facing in so the clownfish can see it, he said it worked

I've also heard to put a clownfish shaped veggie clip right by the anemone to facilitate the process of hosting

I have a clown that stays with a LTA most of the time but visits my three BTA for a while each evening.

There is a pair of clowns in my lfs that are always up in the top corner of the tank - presumably it is where they have decided to take up residence!

I do understand your frustration but you can't expect instant gratification in the sw hobby. I didn't even know that clowns would host in anything but an anemone. I wish I could have seen the look on my face the first time I spotted mine in their mushrooms.

mine hosts in my xenia

but would this work? maybe transferring both to a small quarrantine tank, so that they can get aquainted faster because of the small space?

Update!

I bought a baby Dori and the Clown thinks he is in Finding Nemo........darn thing is co-dependent. No longer hangs out in the corner of the tank....still no hosting in the BTA.

This is the worst type of additute someone can have in the saltwater hobby. The fish aren't there to entertain you, remember that. Or get out of this hobby. You can NEVER bring a fish home expecting him to do something. You have to view it as a bonus if he DOES. End of rant.
