Asm Mini Skimmer

http://www.asmskimmer.com/ASMMini.htm

does anyone have any info on these or what the deal is these in their performance.

for 100 bucks its not bad if it pulls out the gunk that its older siblings do.

found some info:

HE NEW ASM MINI IS HERE

We at Global Aquarium value our customers and want to earn your trust. We are hobbyists just like you. We have seen this skimmer selling for 189.00 at another website. Now they are down to 99.00! I hope no one had to pay that price!

This is called PRICE GOUGING! They figured since they had the product on- line first they could get whatever they wanted out of you. We will NEVER do that to our customers. You have my promise! Anyhow, on with the product!

So much for the little competition out there! The new ASM Pinwheel mini is a sure hit. Please note: We recommend this skimmer up to about a 50 gallon tank with a light load, and a 40 gallon tank with a heavier load. THIS SKIMMER'S PUMP MOVES 120 GPH(240 gph w/ no air), SO WE HAVE done the research and RATED IT ACCORDINGLY! These skimmers have all the same features as it's big brothers, but with smaller tanks in mind. Comparing it to other SMALLER skimmers in this size and price range the ASM Mini is a excellent value!

from here...

A co-worker of mine just ordered one, we'll see how it is.

What brand pump is it?

dont know the brand pump- guess will have to find out as soon as someone gets one... it sounds too good to be true at that price...cheaper than a seaclone 100 (retail)

I have had mine for two days

I have been running the mini on my tank for two days, got some skimmate, the skimmer will need a few days to break in. I like everything about it, so far so good.

Here are some pictures of the Mini in action, this skimmer has a gate valve mod on it.

The skimmate in the first picture isn't really skimmate, the cup was recently emptied and cleaned. I had also just added the gate valve mod, so I was in the process of dialing in the skimmer.

Make no mistakes, this skimmer is for smaller tanks. I would not suggest placing it on a tank larger than 55 gallons. It is a small skimmer designed for small tanks.

This skimmer did surprise me with the skimmate it pulled out. I will see if I can 't get a picture of the cup full of skimmate.

Thanx Rob.
I'm setting up a 55gal with sump. Probably 65-70 gals total.
Your opinion?

As opposed to everything else weve had like *bumps*. Soemone finally chimed in that has some first hand knowlege on how the skimmer is going to work.

As for how its working, did you read his post? Its been up for two days. Relax and give it time.
