live rock
I have aquired some live rock from a friend of mine but really don't know what chemicals that he used while his tank was up and running. The worry is that it he has used copper based or other stuff that could be harmful to coral or inverts. I don't know if I want to put the rock in my tank because of this. Is their anything that I could do like cook the rock to rid the rock of the chemicals so they don't excrete out later on?

If he used copper, it could leach for a long time. Poly filter wouldnt stop this. only remove what is in the water column. If you can't find out for sure, might be best to pass on using in a reef system.

So thier isn't really much you can do about it huh! That's what I figured, just thought that I would ask. I guess I will have to pass along the rock to someone else. Thanks for the help
