blue sponge
i bought a rock w/ starburst on it about a year ago and it has spread and grow a considerable amount along with what apears to be a blue encrusting mat on the rock. This blue mat seems to be taking over the starburst but not at an alarming rate. It looks hard to the touch from outside the tank but is soft and rubbery like a sponge, flat with minimal holes like a sponge, and no polyps at all like with a montipora. I'm sure pictures would help but i'm having problems posting them. can any one sugest what this might be?

that's the stuff. Wow, thanks! Searched google images and it looks most like the flat stuff not the pics with branching like finger leathers. The only problem is all the images web sites are in german (i think) but i did not have alot of time to look. GOt any more info on it?
