I have heard this term used a few times on Reef Central, but I am not sure what it means. What is Cooking Live Rock? Why would you what to do this? Just want to learn! Thanks

I gotcha' covered.
Here is the process. Quote:
Taken from the "How to go Barebottom thread." But remember, you do not need to run a barebottom tank to benefit from rock "cooking". hth, Sean

I am wondering if you have a problem with bubble algae, if this will fix the problem? What if you have a coral growing on your Live Rock, like green star polyps? Those would be hard to remove off the rock before you cooked it. Would this process kill them also? Just thinking this whole thing thru......

It worked on the bubble algae for me, but I removed as much as I could first, and during the process. Chances are your GSP wouldnt make it. You can use a chisel or screwdriver to chisel off the GSP with some rock attached.
