Any advice on how to catch a coral nippin' Whitecheek?
I've had a Whitecheek in my reef system for over a year now with no problems. I just added a very nice 3-headed torch coral to my collection, and lo and behold, the Whitecheek starts popping off the tips like they are candy! I'm really ****ed!
I have never attepted to catch anything larger than a clownfish or goby before. Any suggestions on how to catch this guy without destroying my tank so I can find him a Fish Only home? |

I had that problem with my damsel that kept on eating my pulsing xenia's and an accasional zooanthid. I stayed up one night to see were he sleeps and when he was sleeping i cought him with a net.

I have caught tangs with a large clear zip lock bag that I float in the tank with food inside of it. Don't feed the fish for a few days so the tang will be hungry and we all know how piggy they are. It's hunger will get the best of it and when it goes in for the food you can reach from above the tank and scoop up the bag with the fish and plenty of water so the tang won't rub up on the plastic. Make sure you use extra large bags with the stiff zipper so you can bend it so it stays wide open when you fill it with water. Float it so you have a small portion of the bag poking out of the water that you will be able to grab quickly. I have even faked them out by moving a small net around at the other end of the tank to get the fish to swim towards the bag. Good luck.
