Fluorescent fixtures question

Can you use Fluorescent lighting fixtures normally bought at hardware stores for FOWLR lighting and just replace the fluorescent tubes??

Welcome to RC

they are NO bulbs but yeah for FOWLR they will work if you are going to put them in a canopy. I would suggest putting some fans as well to help keep them cooler. But you can just retro VHO's in canopy and have a better lighting choice as as bulbs go. hth

Yes you can use them. If you don't mind the cool white color of standard bulbs, you can even use them, but I would suggest switching to nicer bulbs. At least 6500k daylight bulbs IMO.

If it's fish only and you don't mind the color of daylight bulbs, yes they'll work just fine and you'll save some money on bulbs and power.
