Blastmosa and Acan care ?

I dont know alot about these corals. How are they to take care of?

Meaning, do they like alot of light or can they take low light?

Could they be in a tank with all mushroom/zoos ?

What kind of flow do they like?

I would like ot get some at some point but just not very familiar with tihs coral.

Thanks for your help

My experience is quite limited, but I do keep blastomusa. Also, I have Borneman's book, which I will paraphrase/quote for you.

Blastomusas are a relatively easy to keep coral. Mine does great under PCs. According to Borneman they come from deeper waters, prefering "fairly low water current and moderate lighting." My tank has zoos and octocorals and all are fine togehter.

If by Acans your mean Acanthastrea, then these are in the same family (Mussidae) and have similar care requirements. However, I do not keep this genus and cannot speak with experience.

I do, however, love my blastomussa.

Cheers,
Ben

The will do fine with fluorescent lighting (pc, vho)

Yes

Like most LPS, they don't like to be blasted with high flow....gentle medium flow is fine.

THis is good news. I used to have that book that you refered to but when I sold my tank before I got rid of everything.

I was planning on an all softie setup with just mushrooms and zoos and i've been interested in this coral before but thought they were hard to care for. I also remember looking at some that were like $50 or close to $100 a polyp if I remember correct.

BTW I was planning on running 2 bulb T5 Aquablue and blue plus on a 58g (Oceanic) tank will this be good enough ??
