blinking light

I have an orbir 4 x 96 watt fixture, one of the Bulbs started blinking yesterday, luckly I had a complete new sets of lights ( I was changing them anyway), I changed them and the blinking stop all day, when I put them on today, they were fine. I moved the fixture to reach into the tank, and the new bulb that is in the same socket started blinking. Now I moved it around a couple of times and it stop again. Is this a bad connection ( I did check the connections out when I replaced bulbs and it looked fine) or can this be a bad ballast? the fixture is only a little over a year old.

thank you

From my experience and what I've read, eggcrate on top of the tank wont cause a dramatic reduction in the amount of light getting into the tank. I did a side by side comparison on my puffers 35gal (96W PC) and our 150 (2x 400W MH) and couldnt tell the difference as to which side had the eggcrate and which didnt other than with the puffers tank I could see the eggcrate

thank you, I did put 1 piece over half the tank and there was a slight difference in the amount of light, I don't know if it will effect the corals.

I have it on all my tanks, My corals thrive with PC as well. As far as your lights it could be any number of thisng, A wire connection in the socket , if its a panasonic pin, it could have bent clip in the socket or even a bad connection from the Ballast. Only way to check is to ake it apart and circut test it, If its only one bulb though I would tend to think the socket has a bad connection . push the lead wires into the socket a little they could have pulled out a bit with changes.

I guess I will take it apart again and check out all the connections, I believe, each bulb has it's own ballast.if thats the case I guess it's possible, it can be the ballast.
