Oops! I just blew my bulb.

When replacing my generic ballast with a Blue Wave III, I didn't realize that the capacitor still remained in the fixture from the first ballast. So all I did was plug in the chord and light the fixture. This worked for about 3 weeks, although I did have a barely noticeable rapid flicker. Then the bulb blew.

I believe the older capacitor was dead, but do you think running my lighting through it caused the bulb to blow?
