Majano - List animals that eat these

Okay,

I know that Joe's Juice is pretty good at zapping majano anenomes. I also know that some butterfly fish will eat them like popcorn.

But my question is this. Are there any invertebrates that I can place in a reef that will eat majano naturally.
For example, I've heard peppermint shrimp will peck away at small aptaisia.
Well, what about majano? Surely there has to be natural predators to this annoying little oragnism

Any suggestions greatly welcomed.

Bronco-

I posted a thread a few weeks ago on majanos and all I got was people telling me to use joe's juice; no known live predator. Someone suggested a bicolor angel, but those are not always reef safe and are only 50/50 on eating them. A LFS employee told me to try lemon juice but I'm wondering if the acidity will screw with pH/water parameters...? (Plus I have a lot of them and would use a lot of juice...) Just wanted to let you know. Maybe someone with different experience will post some new helpful info.

I'm not very familiar with them since I'm dedicated towards wrasses. It seems like there are a few too choose from:

Heniochus diphreutes
Heniochus acuminatus
Heniochus chrysostomus
Heniochus singularis

What would you say is the right one to choose?

Can you post a pic or two of the correct bannerfish to get? Pics of the others to avoid as well. Thanks.

Yep, thats the reef safe one. The problem is telling them from the Heniochus acuminatus which look almost identical. Vivid sells both species, take a look at the pics.

http://www.vividaquariums.com/10Brow...AButterflyfish

The most reliable way to tell them apart is the mouth, the diphreutes has a much shorter "beak" and a more rounded profile to the head. HTH

Sometime my mind wanders and stray thoughts enter and I entertain them. It seems the problem is to kill something without killing anything around them. How far does voltage spread in water if the negative and positive are really close, like say, the width of a mojano apart? Think capacitive discharge (bug zapper) it works on unwanted hair, how far would the "kill zone " extend? What about really hot water delivered in an insulated tube? The flow wouln't have to be much, and the heat would dissapate really fast? What about light? You know that thing the dentist sticks in your mouth to make a ceramic filling harden? is there a light spectrum they can't stand? Is a mojano really that bullet proof? There's got to be an easier way.

maybe....

I dont know if I'd try that bug zapper idea..... you might get permanently curly hair!! What about trying to use suction to remiove them. Take a big syringe and if you suck slow enough hopefully it will suck them out by the foot? I dont know but I started out with about 5 of them and slowly but surely they are spreading.

Marinelife, did you order your Heniochus diphreutes on line or did you get them in a LFS? Thanks.

My peppermints also don't touch them, I think they only get rid of very small anemones (incl. aiptasia too, they don't do a good job on large ones). I only had 2 majano, and I got them easily with kalk injection. Do you have that many that you can't get them by hand? They don't spread nearly as fast as aiptasia.

izmullives,

Well it seems like these nudi's can do a job on aptasia but what about majano? I didn't see any reference that mentioned how they do with these.

Besides are nudi's dangerous to have in a system? If they die they can poision your water much like sea cucumbers????

I recently had to help a buddy move his 135g-reef tank.In the process,we transported all his live rock, submerged under tank water, in large (aprox.42g)plastic tubs with lids from kmart. It was a long-sucky process that took several hours to complete. While transporting the L.R. back from transport containers to tank again, I noticed a lot of majanos had released themselves from the rocks!(I bagged 26 of them, and gave them to an eager newbie...is that wrong?)After the move, he has only found{2}left in his display!
