175w Spot Light Metal Halide Pendant

http://store.yahoo.com/marinedepot/s...-pendants.html

Just wondering if one of these would be good for my 29g. Would the light cover the tank front to back / side to side / top to bottom? Right now I house softies and LPS, but might wanna add some SPS. What bulb should I go with if this is a good light?

that light should be good
If you want, u can go with a 250w just to be on the safer side but u dont reallly need it
get a 13-20k or a 10k and suppliment antinics

Well I can get a real good deal on a 175w unit right now. Will I be able to keep sps on the bottom? It comes wit a 6 month old 10K bulb, and I wont have supplemental light. So, I need a bulb that'll give me both good color and growth. Any paticular brand.

A 6 month old bulb is about shot. If you are looking for color and growth you need to get a 14-15k color bulb. Also, those old bell type reflectors don't reflect much light. I wouldn't get one myself. I would get a 150W DE fixture/bulb for your tank at a minimum.

Well, i figured the bulb would be shot. If I were to buy it could I DIY a pendant from HD? I could get the 175w Spot Light unit for $100
