Do I turn the pumps off to let the dust settel?

I put the sand in my sump and I'm not sure if turning the pum on is a good idea can some one give me some direction?

Thanks ,
Eric

Yes, leave your pumps off while it settles. This will keep dust out of your pumps and it will prevent the dust from just circling around the tank instead of settling at the bottom. Can take over a week, depending how messy it got. Water changes can help this too if you are VERY carefull not to agitate the fresh sand on the bottom.

IMO yes you should turn the pump off until the sand has had amply time to settle. This will also help keep sand out of the internals of the pump, which could eventualy damage it.
