DSB in fuge... yes or no?

I'm working on adding a fuge to my basement sump setup. The fuge is a 20L that is baffled and has the sand out of my recently dismantled sump. It only has about 2 inches of substrate now, do you think I would benefit from increasing it to 4+ inches? Is that small a DSB going to add anything worthwhile?

P.S. My tank only has a shallow sand bed.

Wow, this is from a while back. In any case, I would not. That is not enough surface area to have an efficiently and properly functioning deep sand bed. It cannot house enough of the needed fauna to fulfill all necessary functionality. Just go with a barebottom refugium in this case and use various macroalgae.
