Question Is a hammer gonna color up?

I went to the LFS yesterday, and they had a nice size hammer for sale. Problem is, it's light brown. They have it under halides, but water quality is most likely poor. I will be putting it in a 20G with a 175W XM 15,000K. Will it color up, or stay brown?

What kind of bulb do they have in there halide? The 15K would bring out a little more green I would think than say a 10K would.

I believe they have 10,000K's, with actinic supplement (PC's) I'm pretty sure the lighting is good, I just thought maybe this hammer turned brown from transport, or???

So will it most likely stay the same brown color?

I have had a Frogspawn now for 6 months that I purchased that was more brown and it has not really changed.

There are different hammers, not all hammers are green, sometimes hammers other then green are called metallic hammer corals. I have both in my tank.

If you put it next to a green hammer, it will turn green. The zooxanthella from one colony can intermingle with that of another.

A friend has two frogspawns. One is green with pink tips. The other is pink with green tips. When they grew close enough to touch, they started to inherit the color characteristics of each other. Interesting stuff, really...

Well, I'll just wait until I find one with nicer colors. I don't exactly have the room to put two hammers. Thanks for the replies everyone.
