Great aquascaping! Do you have any pictures of how you did it? I am trying to do mine now, and would like to see how everybody got their rocks so high in the tank. Thanks

Netfish,
Yes the green algae is normal at this point, this 90g has only been re-setup after I lost it all during Hurricane Katrina, So its only been up since the end of October. Conefree, Sorry I don't have any pics of my aquascaping setup. My method is to use several pieces of rock ranging about 3-6" in size and sink them in the sand all around the area to be aquascaped, sorta of like pilings. Then use these as footings to hold the base rocks in place as you biuld your pattern, and then the decorative rock. I find that no matter what you have to do alot of turning, flipping, rotating, etc.... until you get the right rock into the right position, and its firmly in place. Peices that rock back & forth or seesaw will surely cause you problems down the road. It will take several attempts to get it good & right, good luck

my tnak has been up for 5 mnths and i got the same green growth over the rocks . . . im hoping it changes from the bleached white i have on some of my new LR to browny / green that is the coloring of most of my LR to purple which is covering the under carriage of most of my LR. . . Is it normal to have more coralline growth out of the light than growth under lights??? Ive noticed i got a lot of purple coralline growth in under the rock . . .

yeah, I just inquired about that on another link and was told that coralline has a tendency to grow better in low light. Hey BigEasyReef, what kind of lights you running on that system? It's only been up for four months? You guys must still have that voodoo magic goin' on down there!

Coraline algae grows best under actinics only, as soon as you fire up the metal halides you will not only see a reduced growth of coraline, you will probably see it deminish some.

I keep up with 10% water changes every 10 - 14 days, and I have a schedule of dosing with Bi-Onic, Reef Builder Ca, Mag, & Alk, and dripping kalkwasser once a week. It took me a while & alot of testing to get to good maintained levels, but I stay fairly constant at 450- 470 ca, sometimes it spikes to 500 right after dosing, 1350 mag, & 11-12 alk. Everythings growing, so I guess its working.
Thanks, Creighton
