Where can I buy a mechanical ball valve?
I'm looking for a 1.5" mechanical ball valve with actuator that I can use for my closed loop system that I will be setting up for my new tank. I've found a few sites and made a few calls, but the prices I'm getting seem ridiculous, over $700. I would love to get a spring returned actuator, so all I have to do is send a signal to open, and just have it return closed. I know some of you guys/gals use them, did you spend that kind of money on them?
Thanks.

That's about right for everything. You can try www.savko.com or www.usplastics.com (the first 2 that come to mind). They are both very good companies.

I don't see where they have actuators for the valves.

I was looking at some stuff on ebay before, and found some stainless valves, but something that is totally salt water resistant will be tough.

Any time Ian. I know they aren't cheap, but they do the job ,with a CL. The only thing I don't like about a CL is it is so easy to suck something into the intake, that could damage the pump. I would keep the intake way up from the bottom of your tank. This is true esp. if you have a sand bed. Ted

You can also try mcmaster.com, or even grainger.com. We've gotten Hayward actuated ball valves for about $250 if I can remember corectly. These were 1" valves.

If there isn't any metal internal parts in that valve, I would go with the Pool Supply Place. I don't think you can beat the price. Ted

Thanks guys, I also contacted a friend of mine who is a PM for a commercial mechanical company, he may be able to get me Hayward valves at cost. We'll see what happens with that. Pool valves are a great idea though!
