T5 question
What is the average life span of a T5 bulb?
Setting up a new tank, have a Aqua Medic fixture for it(2-250w,1-150w de). Have been thinking about adding a T5 fixture too, 8x54w. Probably having a tank made, thinking about a tank 48x34x24. Think it would be overkill? Trying to decide. I'd end up with the 2 fixtures hanging right next to each other, would it be too much heat? |

HI
It depends which Brand you use The best T5 Tubes like Aquascience Special or Powerchrome can be used to one year others only 6 - 7 month. The tubes still brings light but the sprectra is not the same as in the beginning of the Lamp |

Yeah what he said . Mostly.
I think to minimize any growth stunting, one would want to replace even the best bulbs at 8 for blue and 10 for white, months that is. They are sweet lights, but they don't seem to live up to their promises completey. At least not for SPS doinated tanks.
